Carrying a mouse along with you is barely an inconvenience. However, if you do find it inconvenient, there’s always the trackpad to fall back on. Or, if you still prefer a mouse like regular people do, there’s the walnut-sized mouse, the flat-pack mouse, and now this: the Logitech Mobi Fold.
The new Mobi Fold is Logitech’s first ultra-portable foldable mouse engineered for road warriors. At a glance, one may mistake it for a flip phone because of its flat, folding form factor. A unique folding mechanism transforms this pocket-sized companion into a fairly regular-sized mouse, which Logitech says reduces muscle strain by 22% compared to a laptop trackpad.
Well, that’s a pretty low bar for comparison, IMHO, because a trackpad is hardly intuitive to use; it exists mainly to make a laptop truly mobile. It is kind of like a fire extinguisher. It is there just for emergencies.
Anyhoo, back to the mouse. Because it is from a company that practically started life with a mouse, the Mobi Fold is not just any mouse. Oh no, it isn’t. For starters, it boasts Adaptive Touch Scrolling, allowing it to completely ditch the hardware scroll wheel to reduce the size and weight, and it further features two customizable buttons.
In addition, it connects to up to three devices via Bluetooth, and easily switches between devices using a hardware button on the mouse. It works across Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, Android, iPadOS, and Linux. Speaking of compatibility, the Mobi Fold is also the first Logitech input device to be Fast Pair Certified, allowing Google users to connect it instantly to compatible devices.
The device automatically powers on when unfolded and powers off when closed. Because it is built for the road, it has been drop-tested, has a dust-resistant exterior, and features a hinge rated for 15 years of daily use.
Understanding that power can be scarce while on the go, this mouse sips from a 100 mAh rechargeable Li-Po battery. The battery is good for up to 32 days on a single charge over Bluetooth and stretches another day—to 33 days—when used with the Logi Bolt USB receiver. It supports Quick Charge, giving you up to 22 hours of use from a one-minute Quick Charge.
Whether in the office or at a coffee shop, your obsession with clicking will not disturb those around you with this mouse, thanks to the quiet clicks.
And then there is, of course, AI. An on-device AI model helps prevent unintentional clicks while the mouse is being folded. But I believe that’s as far as AI goes for this device. I mean, surely we are not expecting it to do the clicking for you, right?
Under the hood, the input device benefits from a PAW3222 sensor with a 4,000 DPI resolution. It has a range of 400 to 4,000 DPI, adjustable in increments of 100 DPI. There are four buttons: Left/Right click and Forward/Back beneath the Touch Scroll. The latter two are programmable, as mentioned earlier. Customizations are, of course, made through an app.
It is worth noting that there are two versions: the standard Mobi Fold and the Mobi Fold for Business. The core mouse hardware and features are essentially identical, but the consumer model is customized via Logitech Options+, while the Business version uses Logitech Tune.
The Mobi Fold for Business also includes a Logi Bolt USB-C receiver, supports Logitech Sync for centralized IT monitoring, and comes with a two-year limited hardware warranty, enterprise support, and optional Advanced Replacement service. The standard model does not include the receiver and is aimed at individual users rather than company-wide deployments.
The Logitech Mobi Fold retails for US$79.99, while the Mobi Fold for Business costs US$89.99 through authorized Logitech business channels.
