Buying a tablet for a child also means preparing for its eventual meeting with the floor. Amazon’s new Kids Tablets come with that part covered: a protective case, plus a year of Amazon Kids+. The bigger change is what’s inside. These run Android and include Google Play, with parental approval required for every download.

Two Sizes, Different Wardrobes
The 8.7-inch model offers 64 GB of storage and up to 14 hours of video playback. The 11-inch version gets a 2.5K display, 8 GB RAM, and stylus support for drawing and homework.
Versions for ages three and up wear soft bumper cases, while those for ages six and older get slimmer hard cases. Character options include Paw Patrol, Barbie, and SpongeBob SquarePants. Choosing the case may require more negotiation than choosing the tablet.
Homework Before Entertainment
The Parent Dashboard lets adults set time limits, manage browsing, and remotely pause the device. “Learn First” goals prioritize reading and educational apps before entertainment. That should make “just one more episode” an interesting conversation.
Kids+ also gains Storybuilder, which turns spoken ideas into illustrated stories and comics parents can view.
