Renault-owned Alpine Motors (Automobiles Alpine SAS) has already made its name in endurance and rallycross, and now, this same name is entering the Formula 1. Renault has announced that Alpine is developing and entering its name in the Formula 1 World Championship.
Starting in 2021 season, it is Group Renault team no more. Instead, it will become Alpine F1 Team with backing from Renault E-TECH hybrid engine. The deal is sealed, btw. Renault have signed a new Concorde agreements.
So, yeah. Say adios to Renault F1 Team in 2021 and hello to Alpine F1 Team. While Renault F1 Team have had 160 wins so far, it never had a major win since, I believe, 2005 and 2006. The French automaker hopes that with a new name, it will help the brand return to the podium.
