All told, the new MacBook Pro delivers up to 4x AI performance compared to the previous generation, and up to 8x AI performance compared to M1 models. The new MacBook Pro not only brings blazing-fast CPU and GPU performance to the table, but it also offers up to 2x faster SSD speeds and, wait for it, 1 TB of starting storage for the M5 Pro model and 2 TB for the M5 Max.

The new MacBook Pro further touts N1, an Apple-designed wireless networking chip that offers Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 connectivity. Other highlights include up to 24 hours of battery life, a beautiful Liquid Retina XDR display with a nano-texture option, a 12 MP Center Stage camera, studio-quality microphones, an immersive six-speaker sound system (!), Apple Intelligence features built in, and a wide array of connectivity, including Thunderbolt and MagSafe charging.

Though, as before, the I/O selection is a little restrained. Not sure if it is for the sake of streamlining or cost considerations. That said, whether it is the 14- or 16-inch model, you get MagSafe 3, three Thunderbolt ports with USB-C interface, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, an SDXC card reader, and an HDMI port. It is worth noting that only the 16-inch model gets Thunderbolt 5. The 14-inch is stuck with Thunderbolt 4 for now.

The new devices offer up to 36 GB of unified memory, configurable up to a whopping 128 GB. Meanwhile, storage starts at 1 TB and can be configured up to 8 TB.
