Apple Studio Display and Studio Display XDR

The market certainly is not lacking good, bang-for-the-buck, Mac-friendly displays for Mac users. The BenQ MA270U that I am using is one such monitor. However, if you are a purist who needs everything to be from Apple, the good news is that Apple now has more than one option. The only prerequisite is a fairly beefy bank account.

Apple Studio Display 2026

Folks, meet the all-new Studio Display XDR—revealed alongside the second-generation Studio Display. The XDR has a lot to shout about. Billed as the world’s best pro display, it features a 27-inch 5K Retina XDR panel with a mini-LED backlight, 2,000 nits of peak HDR brightness, and a 120 Hz refresh rate. The monitor further rocks more than 2,000 local dimming zones, up to 1,000 nits of SDR brightness, a wider color gamut, and Adaptive Sync that dynamically adjusts frame rates for content like video playback or graphically intense games.

The all-new Studio Display XDR offers the same advanced camera and audio system as the Studio Display, along with Thunderbolt 5 connectivity. Speaking of the Studio Display, it features a 12 MP Center Stage camera, now with improved image quality and support for Desk View. In addition, it is outfitted with a studio-quality three-microphone array and an immersive six-speaker sound system with Spatial Audio. It also includes Thunderbolt 5 connectivity, ready to provide more downstream bandwidth for high-speed accessories or even daisy-chaining displays.
