Bioceramic MoonSwatch Mission To The Super Blue Moonphase

There have been many timepieces that celebrate many things. But one that celebrates the blue moon of August 19? Well, that has to be the first. The Bioceramic MoonSwatch Mission To The Super Blue Moonphase is such wristwatch that was released to celebrate the summer season and the blue moon.

Unfortunately, this means we are late to the party. The boat has left. This particular Bioceramic collaborative watch between Swatch and Omega was only on sale from August 1 and August 19—the date of the full moon— and during the blue hours, from 5 PM onward. But hey, it is still worth knowing its existence, right?

Anyhoo, beyond the chronograph function, the Bioceramic MoonSwatch Mission To The Super Blue Moonphase boasts a multi-shade blue moon phase with UV ink that is set against a dark celestial background and positioned at the 2 o’clock subdial. Under UV light, a secret detail appears on the moon phase mask and disc. It is very, very cool.

In addition, a blue pulsometer scale with white markers can be found on the Bioceramic bezel. Around the back of the watch, a moon with various shades of blue can be seen on the battery cover.

Other notables include a blue Bioceramic case, crown and pushers, and a blue Velcro strap with contrasting light blue topstitching and a blue Biocermaci attachment loop. It also features a panda dial, a silver-opaline dial with contrasting blue subdials, along with blue hands and hour markers.

As before, the dial carries the OMEGA x Swatch branding, the iconic Speedmaster logo, and the MoonSwatch logo. Finally, of course, the indexes, hour and minute hands and chronograph seconds hand are rocking Grade A Super-LumiNova for a perfect glow in the dark. It has a case size of 42 mm (diameter) and is 13.75 mm thick. Lug-to-lug is 47.30 mm if you must know, and it is water resistant to 3 bar (30 meters or 100 feet).

The Bioceramic MoonSwatch Mission To The Super Blue Moonphase was sold for US$310.
