There are speakers that playback music and then there are speakers preferred by musicians and recording studios around the world when creating music. The Bowers & Wilkins 800 Series is one such speaker and it has just been updated.
The Bowers & Wilkins 800 Series Diamond Speakers, designated as “D4”, is the fourth generation of the British high-end speaker maker’s flagship speaker that started some 40 years ago.
This latest iteration introduces several technical improvements, including the Biomimetic Suspension system that reduces unwanted noise and produces a more transparent and natural sound.
The speaker further boasts a new cabinet design featuring a cast aluminum top section that is stiffer than previous wooden material and therefore greatly improves the quietness of the cabinet.
The new Bowers & Wilkins 800 Series D4 also benefits from a lab-grown diamond-dome tweeter and a revised Solid Body Tweeter-on-Top housing with an elongated tube-loading system – milled from a single block of solid aluminum – for delivering a more open sound.
Altogether there are seven models in the new Bowers & Wilkins 800 Series Diamond range and it includes four floor-standing models, a stand-mounted model, and two center-channel speakers for home theater setup.
