Last time we checked, Apple had yet to announce the iPhone Ultra. Its existence was a minor administrative detail for Caviar, which had already opened preorders for customized versions costing more than a respectable used car. Now, the luxury modifier would like everyone to know that it is no longer designing around a rumor-shaped void.
Caviar says its engineers have received “exact insider schematics” for the iPhone 18 Pro Max and foldable iPhone Ultra. Using physical mockups made to those measurements, its craftsmen are fitting components, checking ergonomics, and refining the decorative elements ahead of production.
In practical terms, Caviar is making sure its crocodile leather, titanium, carbon fiber, silver, and generous quantities of gold land where intended when the actual phones arrive. That matters when the iPhone Ultra collection starts at US$13,840 and climbs to US$16,270. At those prices, “approximately fits” would be an unfortunate entry on the certificate of authenticity.
The Ultra lineup includes Dark Cherry, Titanium, Silver, and Gold versions. Depending on the model, buyers receive crocodile leather, PVD-coated titanium, sterling silver, 24K gold plating, or a three-dimensional Apple logo made from 18K gold. Caviar has also been preparing its Royal Colors collection for the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max.
The timing is interesting. Apple supplier Tata Electronics recently suffered a major data breach in India, with ransomware group World Leaks publishing more than 200,000 purported files. The stolen material reportedly included confidential Apple documents and information concerning unreleased iPhone 18 Pro models. Tata tightened access controls and hired a consultant to conduct a forensic audit, while Apple worked with the supplier on additional security measures. It is worth noting that Reuters could not independently verify the leaked data’s authenticity.
Caviar has not said where its schematics came from, and there is no evidence connecting them to that breach. Still, “exact insider schematics” is probably not a phrase anyone at Apple particularly enjoys reading.
Caviar says the first production batch will be strictly limited, with early preorders receiving priority. The phones remain unannounced, but their luxury wardrobes are now undergoing fittings.
