If Aquaman was real, he would probably appreciate the Chasing Dory Underwater Drone because, with Chasing dory, he could live stream his underwater heroic acts to his fans on social media and be, you know, as popular as his fellow land superheroes.
Like what many drone makers have done with drones, Chasing has made the Dory small and very portable, and it even comes with a backpack too. Chasing Dory, btw, does not literally mean it is chasing a dory.
Also like many aerial drones, it is controlled with an app on your smartphone. Smartphone is the reason why it can stream or share underwater footage in real time.
Chasing Dory is outfitted with both temperature and depth sensors, plus sensors like accelerometer, gyroscopes and more to enable it to do a bunch of things like depth lock and 45-degree (minus or plus) tilt lock.
It is tethered, but don’t be alarm because, it is to a WiFi buoy, so it shouldn’t be as restrictive. Chasing Dory Underwater Drone’s speed tops out a briskly 1.5 knots and it can dive down to 49 feet (15 meters).
Other details include a five-thruster propulsion, a camera with f1.6 aperture paired to a 100-degree lens, built-in 250-lumen LED lights, a hydrodynamic design, duo device control (one drone operator and one camera operator), 16 GB storage (onboard the WiFi buoy), and a battery good for an hour of exploration per 2-hour charging.
You can pick up Chasing Dory Underwater Drone on Kickstarter for $349-379. But you do have act fast because, the campaign ends in 69 hours.
The campaign funded. In fact, it is 685 percent funded at this point. Delivery is this month. Not surprisingly because, Chasing is no newbie. They are in this business for quite a while now.
