The Tamiya GR Yaris R/C car from Collecting Cars and Tamiya has arrived—perfect for anyone who needs a rally car that’s not limited by, you know, real roads. Modeled after the iconic Toyota GR Yaris tribute car unveiled at this year’s Worldwide Coffee Run, this pint-sized powerhouse captures every inch of rally-ready energy and packs it into Tamiya’s M-05 chassis, right down to the “Sand Scorcher” sticker set for that vintage touch.
With only 25 units available, it’s officially rarer than finding an open stretch of road without traffic cameras. Underneath its rally-inspired livery, the GR Yaris R/C boasts double wishbone suspension, friction dampers, and a lightweight monocoque frame that makes it perfect for tearing up any living room—or, let’s be real, the Christmas tree skirt. Edward Lovett, CEO of Collecting Cars, says this little rally beast is “better than socks” as a gift, and honestly, we can’t argue with that—if it is easier on the wallet.
Speaking of which, this little guy commands £325 (plus shipping) (or about US$422, based on the current going rate). For a week’s worth of groceries—possibly a month for some families—you get a 1/10 scale RC model assembly kit (yes, you gotta roll up your sleeves for this) that measures 371 mm long, 168 mm wide, and 137 mm high when completed. It features a lightweight, durable polycarbonate body which you have to paint yourself, and boasts separate injection molded parts for the side mirrors.
At its heart, the Collecting Cars x Tamiya GR Yaris Remote Control Toy is based on a Tamiya M-05 chassis with a compact unit based around a lightweight monocoque structure (yes! on an RC toy) and it is powered by a 540-brushed type motor, paired with Tamiya TBLE-02S electronic speed control (ESC). This ESC supports both brushless and brushed motors. Also included is a 2-channel transmitter (TX), as well as a steering servo, a 7.2V battery, and a fast charger.
