Remember the DJI Matrice 30 Enterprise Drone that has its own “airport”. Well, it has a successor, the DJI Dock 2 and DJI Matrice 3D/3TD Drones. The DJI Dock 2 and DJI Matrice 3D/3TD Drones are the latest enterprise solution from DJI. It is a “drone in a box” system that is designed for cost-effective, automated missions, and easily deployed thanks to its compatibility with DJI FlightHub 2 for cloud-based operations.
The concept of DJI Dock is similar to Airobotics’, except that DJI’s propositioning is highly mobile. It need not be fixed in one location. It can be deployed whenever, wherever. As far as the new DJI Dock 2 goes, it is significantly lighter and more compact than its predecessor, weighing only 75 pounds (34 kilograms) and standing just over 18 inches (46 centimeters) tall, making it easy to transport and set up by just two people.
The Dock 2 offers enhanced operational capabilities including automated mission planning with cloud-based adjustments for camera angles and repeat surveying. Its site evaluation for deployment is swift, reducing setup time dramatically from five hours to merely 12 minutes. Additionally, the dock is robust enough to operate in harsh climates, thanks to its IP55 rating for dust and water resistance and integrated environmental sensors.
The dock can handle automated flights with minimal human intervention, although manual control is possible from any location. It features internal and external fisheye lenses to monitor surroundings and weather conditions remotely. DJI Dock 2 requires minimal maintenance, needing attention only every six months, and can function independently during power outages for up to five hours.
Where its predecessor offers a single type of drone, the Dock 2 is now offered with two drones, namely Matrice 3D and Matrice 3TD, each tailored for a specific industry. The Matrice 3D drone is designed for high-precision mapping and surveying with its dual-camera setup, capable of producing detailed 3D models for 1:500 scale mapping. The Matrice 3TD, on the other hand, is ideal for security and inspection tasks, featuring a high-resolution wide camera and an infrared camera that captures both visible light and thermal images.
Both drones boast a 50-minute flight time, and a six-mile (9.7 kilometers) operational radius, and can withstand winds and dust with an IP54 rating. They are part of DJI’s open ecosystem, which supports both DJI and third-party software and payloads, enhancing flexibility for various operational needs.
DJI Dock 2, along with the Matrice 3D and 3TD drones, will be available for reservation from March 26, with pricing available through local authorized DJI Enterprise dealers. Meanwhile, you may learn more HERE.
