Steam mopping is a feature of some high-end cordless stick vacuums. Thanks to Dreame, it has arrived on a robovac. Folks, meet the Dreame Aqua20 Ultra Roller*, the world’s first robovac with true live steam mopping. It features the first dual high-temperature steam mopping system, spewing out 180°C steam that promises a 99.99% sterilization rate.
Dreame said it takes just 8 seconds for the steam to be ready for use. So, this might be germaphobes’ new best friend. Not only that. It has a host of innovative tech that makes you wonder why this isn’t a humanoid wielding a bunch of cleaning equipment to do the job.
It features an 8 cm extendable roller, allowing it to thoroughly clean hard-to-reach areas like under the legs of office chairs and the toe kicks of cabinets. And then there’s the ability to clear obstacles like low steps, thanks to the ProLeap feature that enables it to clear a single 5 cm step or two consecutive steps measuring up to 10 cm in total.
It can also get under low furniture. When it arrives at a low space it needs to access, the protruding LDS module will automatically retract into the robovac to reduce its profile. When it encounters a step, a leg hidden beside each wheel will deploy to heave the machine up the step.
The robovac further touts the AI-enhanced OmniSight System 4.0, which is capable of recognizing over 320 types of objects, including objects as small as 10 mm, such as an AirPods Pro earbud. This allows it to avoid obstacles like toys, pets, and more, and get back to the cleaning path immediately afterward. Its AI vision is further bolstered by automatic illumination, letting it precisely detect and identify even the smallest dirt.
It also boasts an AutoSeal roller guard that prevents carpets from getting wet or dirty when vacuuming carpeted areas. And it sucks hard, courtesy of powerful 40,000 Pa suction, allowing it to easily pick up dust, hair, and debris. Speaking of hair, the zero-tangle brush is said to be able to handle hair as long as 50 cm.
The mopping function features water circulation and a fixed scrubber to maintain a clean mop and clean water as it proceeds. More importantly, the spinning cleaning brush will get out of the way while mopping, so it won’t splash water around like a kid in a water playground. When all is done, it cleans the mop itself with water at 100°C, which Dreame claims provides a 99.99% sterilization rate.
The Dreame Aqua20 Ultra Roller AI Steam Roller Robot Vacuum has been launched in Hong Kong for a grand HK$9,999 [HK], which works out to around US$1,275 based on the current going rate. The machine recently debuted at IFA 2026 to much media attention.
It has been launched in Europe as the Dreame Aqua20 Pro Ultra Roller X Complete. That’s not the most confusing part yet. In some markets, it might be called the Dreame Aqua20 Pro Ultra Roller Complete (no “X”) or the Dreame Aqua20 Ultra Complete.
I spent hours writing this short feature because of this. A great deal of time was spent deciphering the model names. Apparently, Dreame did not get the memo about globalization and the existence of world-connecting platforms like TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, and more, where consumers from around the world may meet and even discuss tech products.
Anyhoo, if you are intending to purchase this, I suggest forgetting the name. Look at the features. If they match your wishlist, then the device is what you are looking for. The only other challenge left is your bank account.
