Electric vehicles, bikes included, supposed to be the future of transportation and therefore, it is only natural that they also sports rather over-the-top futuristic looks. Obviously, futuristic look is not everyone’s cuppa and you are one of them, and still wanted an eco-conscious two-wheeler, the Eva EsseEsse9 from Italian high performance electric motorcycle maker, Energica, could be right up your old school alley. Aesthetically, the Eva EsseEsse9 looks just like the sports bike you have grown to love over the decades, but it is anything but ancient.
Staying true to the “old school” design, it comes outfitted with a classic soft-touch seat and what looks like a regular headlight. However, the latter is nothing conventional; it is a full LED headlight with DRL, fearing an oval light embedded in a precious aluminum machined crown – the first of its kind in the world of motorcycle. Just like any naked bike, its structural aluminum machined plates and folded, riveted aluminum sheets and such are completely revealed.
Sandwiched within its steel tubular trellis frame is an oil-cooled permanent magnet AC motor capable of producing 109 horses and 133 lb-ft (180 Nm) of torque. Paired to a 11.7 kWh lithium polymer battery, the Eva EsseEsse9 has a range of no less than 93 miles (150 kilometers). And unlike its automobile counterpart, charging is swift; it will only take 30 minutes to achieve 85 percent charge under DC fast charge or 3.5 hours to take it from zero to 100 percent charge via regular charging.
Other highlights include 4 riding modes with 4 regenerative maps, park assistant, 17-inch cast aluminum wheels wrapped in Pirelli Phantom rubbers, cast aluminum swing arm, Marzocchi front suspension, Bitubo rear mono shock, 525 O-Ring chain, ABS, Brembo brakes, Bluetooth LE technology, integrated GPS receiver, and a 4.3-inch WQYGA TFT color display with built-in memory for data logging and also shows you where are the nearest charging stations.
Energica, in conjunction with CRP Group and CRP USA, will be debuting the Energica Eva EsseEsse9 in the U.S. via CES 2018. If you are heading there, be sure to hit up booth #8910 Tech East, LVCC, North Hall and see it in the flesh. Two colors will be presented at the event: Lunar White and Shocking Blue. The latter is expected to feature a special surfboard rack. As for availability and pricing, I guess it will only be known when it appears at CES 2018.
