eufyCam 2 Home Security Camera

Anker’s smart home appliances and security brand eufy has announced a follow to its eufyCam, simply called eufyCam 2. This next-gen eufyCam should get Apple users pretty pumped because, it features integration with Apple HomeKit that lets it detects and records live video in the Home app and stores the footage in iCloud.

With this integration, eufyCam 2 will push notifications directly to iPhone or iPad whenever it detects motion which you will be able to see live video instantly from the devices’ lock screen. In addition, eufyCam 2 also touts improved battery and better video resolution.

I am not sure if Apple HomeKit is a compelling selling point, considering that you will need an iCloud sub to leverage on what this integration has to bring to the table.

Anyways, customers who have a 200 GB iCloud plan can add one camera at no extra cost while those with a 2 TB plan can add up to five cameras.

“With Apple TV, HomePod, or iPad as the home hub, HomeKit Secure Video uses on-device intelligence to privately analyze activity captured from the eufyCam 2 to detect whether it sees a person, vehicle or an animal before securely sending it to iCloud. This ensures a user is only notified when there is important activity detected in their home. ”

HomeKit Secure Video will be available to eufyCam 2 via over-the-air update later this year. As for the hardware itself, it is available to pre-order now from BestBuy.com for $349.99.
