It may be hard for some to associate wireless audio streaming with audiophiles but if you are willing to give a high-fidelity wireless speaker a go, you may want to check out FiiO’s latest offering: the FiiO SP3 BT.
The FiiO SP3 BT is a Bluetooth High Fidelity Active Desktop Speaker System featuring a 3.5-inch carbon fiber woofer paired with a 1-inch silk tweeter, and a soft sound-absorbing treble dome design, bolstered by an asymmetrical internal and external magnetic circuits.
It further boasts directional acoustic waveguides, a double-diffused S-shaped port tube, and a T1 power amplifier – all working together to deliver 30 W x 2 plus 10 W x 2 power output.
The speaker system offers a few wired connectivity options, including Type-C, Coaxial, as well as Optical for purists to enjoy their favorite tunes in high-definition lossless digital channels. There’s also an auxiliary input for users who are less concerned about audio quality.
The real star connectivity here is, however, the Qualcomm QCC5124 Bluetooth chip that supports multiple high-resolution Bluetooth codecs, such as LDAC, aptX Adaptive, and AAC. When using LDAC, users can completely immerse in the music with high bitrate audio up to 990 kbps.
That’s not it. The FiiO SP3 BT is designed to work with the FiiO Control app/FiiO Music Mobile apps, allowing you to fine-tune the sound, including customizing the device name, specifying which Bluetooth codecs to use, and tweak the output with the 10-band parametric EQ. The latter lets you adjust the Q value, gain, and other parameters of each band.
The FiiO SP3 BT was revealed on April 12, 2024. It is worth noting that recently (May 08), it has a firmware update (SP3 BT V0.8) that addresses the issue of no sound when playing short videos on iOS devices and updates other connection issues. Just thought you should know because you may have read or seen a review highlighting those issues.
