Framework has taken its familiar 13-inch repairable laptop, sent it to finishing school, and returned with the Framework Laptop 13 Pro. It was unveiled on April 21, 2026, as a ground-up redesign aimed at developers and power users who would rather own their computer than merely rent its cooperation.
The Pro trades the stamped-metal chassis for CNC-machined aluminum, gaining rigidity without abandoning repairability. It measures 15.85 mm (0.62 inches) thick, weighs 1.4 kg (3.09 lbs), and retains compatibility with every Framework Laptop 13 Mainboard. Existing owners can upgrade instead of staring mournfully at their suddenly inferior laptop.
Under the hood are Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors, up to 64 GB of replaceable LPCAMM2 LPDDR5X memory, and as much as 8 TB of PCIe Gen 5 storage. As an AI PC, it also brings a dedicated NPU for accelerating compatible local AI features without pestering the CPU for every little task. The 74 Wh battery delivers a claimed 20 hours of 4K Netflix streaming, finally addressing the complaint that Framework laptops were excellent at surviving repairs but less enthusiastic about surviving the day.
The 13.5-inch 3:2 touchscreen packs a 2,880 x 1,920 resolution, 30–120 Hz variable refresh rate, and up to 700 nits of brightness. A large haptic touchpad, 1.5 mm-travel keyboard, configurable Expansion Card ports, and hardware cut-off switches for the camera and microphones complete the package.
It is also Framework’s first Ubuntu-certified laptop, though Windows 11 remains available for anyone unwilling to make Linux their entire personality.
At launch, the DIY Edition started at US$1,199, while pre-built configurations started at US$1,499.
