Getac ZX80W 8-inch Windows 11 Tablet
Built for environments that would make ordinary tablets file for early retirement, the Getac ZX80W combines Windows 11 productivity, ARM-powered efficiency, edge AI capabilities, and military-grade durability in a compact 8-inch package.

You know how consumer-grade tablets fare in the wild. Drop one in the wrong place, and it starts negotiating its own retirement. So the next time your boss sends you to a warzone, an oil rig, a coal mine, or anywhere else that makes electronics nervous, tell them you need something tougher and productive enough to replace a PC, like the Getac ZX80W.

The new ZX80W is Getac’s latest fully rugged 8-inch tablet, combining the flexibility of Windows 11 with the efficiency of ARM architecture. At its heart is Qualcomm’s QCS6490 platform, paired with 12 GB LPDDR5 memory and 256 GB of UFS storage. The result is a fanless tablet that promises long operating times without hunting for a power outlet every few hours.

Perhaps the most interesting part is that it runs Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC. Traditionally, getting the full Windows experience in the field meant carrying larger and heavier hardware. The ZX80W aims to deliver the same Windows compatibility and security in a compact package weighing just 590 g (1.3 lb).

The tablet is also ready for edge AI workloads thanks to Qualcomm’s 6th Generation AI Engine and Hexagon NPU. This allows real-time processing for tasks such as UAV flight control, predictive maintenance, asset management, and transportation logging without relying heavily on cloud connectivity.

Of course, none of that matters if the device falls apart after a rough day on the job. Fortunately, durability is where Getac earns its reputation. The ZX80W is MIL-STD-810H certified, IP67 rated, resistant to vibration, and capable of surviving drops from 1.8 m (6 ft). It also operates in temperatures ranging from -29°C to 63°C (-20°F to 145°F), while its sunlight-readable display ensures it remains usable outdoors.

The Getac ZX80W is scheduled to arrive in July 2026. It may not survive a direct meteor strike, but for most field assignments, it should be more than prepared. In the meantime, you may learn more about this tough little package here.
