You are not having a déjà vu. It is the rumored Pixel 9a, aka the more affordable Pixel 9. It was officially announced on March 19, 2025, and it is now finally available to order. You thought this was just another Pixel 8a refresh, didn’t you? Nope—this one shows up with more power, more screen, and more sass, but still keeps your wallet from filing a complaint.

For starters, it packs a 6.3-inch pOLED display with a buttery-smooth 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 2700 nits, so yes, you can now doomscroll comfortably under the sun. Running on Google’s latest Tensor G4 chip, the Pixel 9a also gives you 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage (UFS 3.1, no less). The whole thing runs Android 15 and is promised to stay fresh with seven years of updates. Your phone might outlive your houseplants.
On the back, you get a 48 MP main camera with OIS and a 13 MP ultrawide lens that can capture just about everything, including your dog mid-sneeze. Up front, there’s another 13 MP ultrawide for group selfies that don’t crop out your friends. It shoots 4K video, too.
With a 5100 mAh battery, IP68 water resistance, wireless charging, and a starting price of just US$499, this thing is officially Too Good for the “a” label. But that’s just my opinion based on the specs. If anyone’s down, the new Pixel 9a is available to order as we speak.
