Damn. This almost slipped under the radar amid louder launches like the Honor 500 series, the Magic V5, the Magic8 Pro, and the conversation-starting concept robot phone. Granted, back in August, when the Honor Magic V Flip2 was launched, there weren’t a lot of new phones being announced. Anyhoo, so, yes, Honor has welcomed its second Flip, after entering the vertical foldable game a little late last year with the first Magic V Flip.

The V Flip2 is not a simple follow-up. It feels more like Honor settling in and getting comfortable. Front and center is Professor Jimmy Choo, OBE, who immediately frames the phone as part fashion accessory, part tech flex. This is less “tool” and more “seasonal collection.” It is not hard to see which demographics Honor has its sights set on for this device.

Looks aside, that is only half the story. The Magic V Flip2 [CH] packs an AI-powered 200 MP portrait camera with OIS, backed by a 50 MP ultra-wide camera with a 120-degree field of view and a 2.5 cm close-focusing distance. Up front, there is a 50 MP selfie camera with 2D face recognition, which is excessive and very much on purpose.

The main display is a 6.82-inch LTPO OLED panel with a 1–120 Hz refresh rate, 2,868 × 1,232 resolution, Dolby Vision support, 1.07 billion colors, and up to 5,000 nits peak brightness. The cover display is a massive 4-inch panel where 99 percent of the surface is actually usable, which is kinda the thing for vertically folding phones these days.

Power comes from a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, paired with a split dual-cell “Qinghai Lake” battery totaling 5,500 mAh. Charging does not hold back either, with 80 W wired and 50 W wireless fast charging. The asymmetrical battery layout places cells on either side of the fold, helping with balance and longevity.

Durability is clearly something Honor wants attention on. The company claims the UTG glass and redesigned hinge can survive 350,000 folds, with a crease depth under 50 microns, and that this flatness will hold for five years. That is a bold promise, and five years is a long time to test it. The phone also carries IP58 and IP59 ratings, which is not something you see every day on a flip phone.

AI shows up everywhere, and it is actually being used. There is AI editing with single voice commands (yes, really!), AI smart cropping, stylized anime filters, real-time translation displayed on the external screen for face-to-face conversations, and an AI call assistant that can transcribe calls live, reply via text, and summarize key points afterward. Mobile payments are deeply baked in as well, with double-tap shortcuts that instantly bring up QR codes.

With the new V Flip2, Honor isn’t gunning for the podium in the thin-and-light race. It measures 167.1 mm long when open and 86.2 mm when closed, with a width of 75.6 mm. Thickness is 6.9 mm unfolded and 15.5 mm folded, and it weighs 204g. You may loathe the dimensions if you held the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 before.

In the connectivity department, it has got 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and USB 2.0 with a USB-C interface. And then it has the usual suspects of positioning and sensors. The latter also includes an IR blaster, as well as a fingerprint sensor.

The Honor Magic V Flip2 has launched in China in multiple configurations, starting at 5,499 yuan [CH], which is about 781 USD based on the current going rate.
