Watches don’t usually make me thirsty, but here we are. The latest Hublot collab with American artist Daniel Arsham is called the Hublot MP-17 MECA-10 Arsham Splash, and yes, it looks like someone froze a water splash and then trapped a Swiss movement inside. It’s an equal part “tell me the time” and “wearable sculpture that just happens to tick.”
If you recall, Arsham’s previous team-up with Hublot gave us the MP-16 Droplet, a pocket watch that looked like a high-end sci-fi trinket. This time, Arsham went full wrist with his first Hublot watch design, keeping the “fluid” theme alive. The MP-17 features a 42 mm titanium case wrapped with a frosted sapphire crystal bezel, a splash-shaped dial opening, and a sapphire caseback that puts the in-house Meca-10 movement on full display. This hand-wound caliber serves up a ridiculous 10-day power reserve, because Arsham’s vision of time isn’t something you wind every other night.
Other touches include Arsham green accents splashed across the hands, numerals, power reserve indicator, and even the small seconds hand, reminding you that this isn’t just any Hublot—it’s an Arsham. The curvy, organic case lines make it feel like liquid metal frozen mid-motion, yet it still keeps Hublot’s DNA intact with six H-screws and distinctive lugs holding it together.
Only 99 pieces will be made, and they’ll be available through Hublot boutiques and authorized retailers. Consider it less of a watch and more of an art object that just happens to keep time, one splash at a time. Getting one would require you to book an appointment, and also, we also do not know the price. But if you are considering getting one, money is probably no object.
