Longines Legend Diver 59 Diving Watch
The Longines Legend Diver 59 blends vintage Super-Compressor dive watch DNA with modern ISO-certified diving capability in a package that somehow looks ready for both scuba duty and a black-tie dinner underwater.

Some dive watches look like they can break a shark’s nose, or resemble the Standard Diving Dress. In other words, they look exactly like what they are: rugged, overbuilt tools made for surviving underwater punishment. Not the Longines Legend Diver 59, though. This thing looks like it belongs under the cuff of a tailored suit rather than strapped over a wetsuit.

When worn, it feels like the owner has an office located 300 meters beneath the ocean surface. It is somehow elegant and dive-ready at the same time, which is not a combination you see very often in this category of watch.

But yes, for those who know, the legend is back. Well, kind of. The Longines Legend Diver 59 is a modern reinterpretation of Longines’s 1959 Super-Compressor-style dive watch, bringing vintage diver aesthetics into 2026 with upgraded materials and movement tech more suited for, you know, modern-day diving duties.

The watch features a 42 mm stainless steel case with the signature dual-crown layout and internal rotating bezel that made the original Legend Diver famous. One crown controls the bezel, while the other handles winding and time setting.

Unlike older glossy Legend Diver models, this new version adopts a matte-grained black dial with sandblasted hands and “Old Radium” Super-LumiNova for a more rugged, tool-watch vibe. That’s what Longines says and wants you to believe. To me, it feels like the watch you wear if you are attending an underwater wedding while dressed in a black three-piece suit with diving gear strapped to your back.

Speaking of diving, this diving timepiece is ISO 6425-certified for diving and water resistant to 300 meters (984 feet), so remember to inform the inviting groom that no wedding ceremony beyond that depth for you. Otherwise, you will not be attending. Under the hood is the COSC-certified Longines L888.6 automatic movement with a silicon balance spring, anti-magnetic properties, and a 72-hour power reserve.

A couple of other noteworthy mentions include a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with several layers of anti-reflective coating on both sides, and a lovely caseback featuring a raised image of a diver holding a diving spear.

The Legend Diver 59 comes paired with a stainless steel Milanese mesh bracelet with a micro-adjust clasp, plus an additional black rubber strap for sportier wear or for occasions when you feel the mesh style is a little too formal.

The Longines Legend Diver 59 is available now for US$4,100.
