Battery anxiety usually ends with a charger in your pocket. Motorola has another solution: put a 7,100mAh battery inside the phone. The Edge 70 Max pairs that serious endurance with flagship Snapdragon power, a 144Hz Quad HD+ display, and Qi2 magnetic charging, without turning the handset into a pocket-size brick.

If I am being honest, an iPhone of any generation is probably not for you if you suffer from battery anxiety. Android is the way to go for anxiety-free mobile usage. I am serious. OK, perhaps not if you pick a Pixel. Anyhoo, if battery life is the last thing you want to worry about, Android gives you no shortage of options, and the Motorola Edge 70 Max is one of the more convincing ones.

Revealed in July, this new big guy packs a whopping 7,100mAh silicon-carbon battery, yet measures a perfectly reasonable 8.29 mm (0.33 inches) thick. That is a lot of juice without requiring cargo pants. OK. Perhaps 8.29 mm is not awfully thin, but it is reasonable given the battery it has under the hood.

With an excessive battery capacity comes excessive charging power. We are talking about 90W TurboPower wired charging capable of providing up to 12 hours of use from six minutes at the socket. It also supports 25W Qi2 magnetic wireless charging, allowing compatible chargers, stands, and accessories to snap directly onto the phone. Android has discovered magnets, and life may never be the same again.

Powering everything is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, backed by up to 12GB of LPDDR5X memory and 256GB of storage. A 5,500 mm² vapor chamber with liquid metal cooling keeps temperatures under control when gaming, multitasking, or opening the camera immediately after gaming and multitasking.

The 6.82-inch Quad HD+ AMOLED display runs at 144Hz and reaches a claimed 7,000 nits of peak brightness. Photography duties fall to a 50-megapixel Sony LYTIA 710 main camera with OIS, an 8-megapixel ultrawide/macro camera, and a 32-megapixel selfie shooter capable of 4K video.

It is also the first phone to launch with Motorola Qira, the company’s cross-device AI system for summarizing notifications, remembering context, planning tasks, and following you between compatible Motorola and Lenovo devices. Helpful, provided you are comfortable with your electronics comparing notes.

The Edge 70 Max carries IP68 and IP69 ratings, Gorilla Glass 7i, an aluminum frame, and MIL-STD-810H-tested durability. It comes in Pantone Aqua Gray, Dark Shadow, and Ice Melt.

Indian pricing starts at ₹54,999 (~US$570). The UK and wider European rollout starts at £550 and €698.99, respectively. A US release has not been announced.
