The Apple iPad Air has been updated. The last update was in 2020 when it received the new iPad Pro-style look. While it has the iPad Pro-style look, the 2020 model still relies on a mobile-focus chip, does not have an all-screen design, and does not support Apple Pencil. With the 2022 Apple iPad Air, however, it improves on all those.
The 2022 Apple iPad Air is now powered by an M1 chip, and features 5G connectivity (for cellular models), a new 12 MP front camera with Center Stage, a 12 MP rear-facing camera, supports Apple Pencil (2nd generation), eSIM, Wi-Fi 6 support, Bluetooth 5.0, and an all-screen design featuring a large 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display (2,360 by 1,640 pixels).
The new 2022 Apple iPad Air is available in 64 GB and 256 GB capacities and comes in a choice of space gray, starlight, pink, purple, and blue finishes. It will be available to order starting March 11, 2022, with official availability on March 18, 2022. Price-wise, Wi-Fi-only models start at US$599 while Wi-Fi + Cellular models start at US$749.
