Shaver is just, well, a shaver. It is probably the last product on Earth that will go sustainable. But sustainable is exactly what the new Panasonic Palm Shaver is. Officially called Palm Travel Shaver 5-Blade (ES-PV6A) in North America or LAMDASH PALM IN in its home country Japan, this compact shaver has a body that uses NAGORI, a sustainable material created from sea minerals.
The materials, together with a radical re-thinking of the form factor, reduce plastic use by 40 percent compared to Panasonic’s conventional grooming products. As the product name suggests, the Panasonic Palm Shaver is palm size which means it is good for use at home as well as on the go.
But don’t let the compact stature fool you. The Palm Shaver may be small but mighty; it boasts a powerful linear motor that powers the 5-blade system to enable up to 39,000 cross cuts/minute, allowing for an equal, clean shave of dense hair.
The inner blade is a stainless steel forged blade that is manufactured using the same methods as Japanese swords. The cutting edge of this blade is honed to an acute angle of 30° for outstanding sharpness. The compact, handle-free design allows you to manipulate the shaver using your wrist as if your hand is shaving.
It has a built-in rechargeable battery that recharges with USB-C. This means you will have one less charger to own or bring if you are hitting the roads.
Panasonic Palm Shaver really breaks the design convention. It hardly looks like a shaver. It looks more like the charging case of a pair of TWS. Yes. It is that compact. It measures just 7.2 cm across and 5.7 cm tall (about 2.83 by 2.24 inches) and it tips the scale at a mere 145g (5.11 oz).
The Panasonic Palm Shaver (ES-PV6A-W) will be available in the U.S. in September 2024 with a yet-to-be-disclosed MSRP. However, it is already available in Japan for 41,580 yen, or around US$276.
