Unveiled at Hollywood’s Chateau Marmont during Frieze Los Angeles, this 6,000-pound (2,721 kg) behemoth transforms the sleek curves of Aston Martin’s flagship into a glowing, futuristic masterpiece.
James, known for his infinity light sculptures, has essentially turned the Vanquish into a portal to another dimension—where high performance meets high art. The 5.4m x 2.6m (17.7 ft x 8.5 ft) sculpture blends mirrored glass and LED lighting, reflecting the car in a seemingly endless cosmic tunnel. Think Tron, but make it luxury.
Vanquish, of course, is no stranger to being called a masterpiece. It’s Aston Martin’s most powerful front-engine sports car, and now, thanks to Anthony James, it’s also the centerpiece of a boundary-pushing sculpture. Following its Hollywood debut, Reflections of Speed will head to the Petersen Automotive Museum before being auctioned to support the LA Arts Community Fire Relief Fund.
