a watch is as perfect as it is now and therefore, it is the last thing that needed any real innovation as far as time telling is concerned. at least that’s what we, the non-TokyoFlash thinkers, perceived things to be but not for the case of Belgium industrial designer, Benoit Mintiens. his first series of “platform watches” (launched in 2010), also dubbed as the watch with hands, have a dial that rotates itself instead of hands that rotate around the dial. the main dial indicates the minutes, while a series of sub dials show the hours, seconds, as well as am/pm. not content with his radical approach in time telling, Benoit has up his own ante with his latest concept that features several visual updates. the concept features a redesigned minute index and am/pm indicator, bezel-less design that has the crystal wrapped down to wall of the case, and a liquid filled dial that gives the dial-on-the-crystal effect. oh, and it doesn’t has a traditional crown, instead user will have to twist the bottom part of the case for winding and setting of time. simply awesome. the Ressence Concept Watch made its public appearance at the BASELWORLD 2012 earlier this month and as far as we know, it is still a concept at this point. head past the jump for a few more view, courtesy of Hodinkee.
