TECNO SPARK 40 Pro+ Smartphone

If you are tired of dealing with thick and heavy phones, well then, TECNO Mobile’s latest phone has you covered. I am aware that there’s also the Galaxy S25 Edge and the upcoming iPhone 17 Air, but it’s always good to have options. At 6.49 mm, it may not be as super thin as the S25 Edge, but it is 3 grams lighter at 160g. Given the 7–8 mm norm in recent years, 6.49 mm is impressive, IMHO. Plus, the curved sides should make it feel even thinner in the hand.

Thin and light aren’t the only things the new SPARK 40 Pro+ shines at; it also stands out with a 144 Hz 6.8-inch 1.5K (1,224 by 2,720 pixels) 3D AMOLED display, a large 5,200 mAh battery with 45 W super charging and 30 W magnetic wireless charging, FreeLink free call without signal, and the world’s first MediaTek Helio G200 chip.

The new SoC is born out of TSMC’s 6 nm process and boasts an octa-core processor alongside the ARM Mali-G57 MC2 GPU, which has a 1.1 GHz operating frequency and offers a 10% improvement in single-core graphics processing. All told, this new SoC supports fast 4.5G networks and is said to support PUBG at 60 fps. More importantly, it promises to be lag-free for 5 years. That is a bold promise.

The battery also makes a bold claim. Thanks to AI charging, it can “endure over 2,000 charge cycles,” and even after 5 years of use, it will retain over 80% health. The device further boasts IP64 dust and water resistance, a dual speaker setup with Dolby Atmos support, and the requisite AI, which in this case is TECNO AI, offering AI call noise cancellation, AI Eraser 2.0, AI writing, AI Translate, TECNO’s own assistant Ask Ella, and more.

Those aren’t all. The SPARK 40 Pro+ has a Wi-Fi gaming antenna design, Super WiFi 2.0, as well as GPS 2.0 that promises accurate positioning. The 50 MP EIS camera also benefits from AI (but of course!). It has just one rear camera, paired with a dual flash setup. Over at the front, there’s a 13 MP camera, also with dual flash.

The device offers up to 256 GB of storage and 16 GB of memory (8 GB extended RAM). No mention of RAM and storage type, though. Other features include an IR remote control, a multifunctional NFC, a dual system, 5 W reverse wireless charging, and an Outdoor Booster to make the phone more suited for outdoor use (brighter, louder, for example).

As far as aesthetics go, the new SPARK 40 Pro+ continues the last season’s design trend of curved edges and features a one-piece aluminum Deco that wraps around the lens module. I don’t believe the price has been revealed yet, though. Meanwhile, you can learn more HERE.
