You are not seeing things. This is The Police – Greatest Hits. First released on CD and limited vinyl in 1992, The Police – Greatest Hits is getting a re-release, or as the record industry puts it, a reissue.
Celebrating the 30th anniversary of the original, this reissue (officially known as The Police – Greatest Hits Half-speed Remaster Double-LP 30th Anniversary Edition), which is on vinyl via UMe/Polydor, is not a regular old reissue.
It is a double-LP remastered at ‘half-speed’ for “ultimate sound quality” at the Abbey Road and it is destined to be a collectible with expanded artwork and packaging in a bespoke gatefold sleeve.
As for the tracks, expect to find 16 tracks, eight U.S. Top 20 hits, 14 U.K. Top 20 hits, and five U.K. number one singles, Message In A Bottle, Walking On The Moon, Don’t Stand So Close To Me, Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic, and Every Breath You Take. The latter also happens to be the No. Hit in the U.S., spread across two heavyweight black LPs.
The Police – Greatest Hits Half-speed Remaster Double-LP 30th Anniversary Edition is set to release on April 15, 2022. Fans can pre-order your copy from The Sound of Vinyl for US$49.96.
