it looks like the third generation of the world’s most iconic car is almost here. the new 2012 Volkswagen Beetle will comes in three engine options: a 2.5-liter five cylinder petrol engine, a 2.0-liter TDI and a 2.0-liter TSI turbocharged petrol engine. this latest incarnation sports a longer, wider body with an unmistakably aggressive stance that would probably dispel the long standing perspective that the Beetle is a lady’s car. just hope that they will give the flower in the test tube thing a pass.

except for the 2.5-liter variant, the other two will be offered with an optional six-speed dual clutch DSG transmission. the 2.0 TSI will also comes with an XDS cross limited slip differential. this time round, the Beetle will be offered with a host of options that include a panoramic roof, extensive audio system, and an annual theme model. the 2012 Volkswagen Beetle is set to hit North America showrooms in September, Europe in October and Asia in February 2012.
