LaCie introduced a new version of the Rikiki portable hard drive with USB 3.0 interface. clad in tough aluminum casing, it has a minimalist feel to it. with the USB3.0 interface, it is capable of supporting up to 5Gb/s of transfer speed. Rikiki comes in at 500GB and 1TB capacity. no worry if you don’t have USB3.0 on your computer, it is backward compatible with USB2.0 too.

along with Rikiki, there’s the world’s smallest USB3.0 desktop drive – the Minimus which measures just 110.7mm x 29.4mm x 172.8mm (about the size of a paperback novel). despite it’s petite size, the Minimus is available in 1TB and 2TB and of course, the Minimus also comes with the SuperSpeed USB3.0 interface.

no fancy design here, just minimalist, sleek design that goes well with well designed gadgets such as your MacBook or iMac. both drives come with a USB 3.0 which is USB 2.0 compatible and will work on both PC and Mac.

the advancement in technology has blurred the line between portability and desktop. in time, desktop hard drives will certainly be replaced by more portable items, even with the increasing storage capacity. i suppose what we need is higher transfer speed. don’t you think so?
