unless it is an Abarth, the 500 or 500c is a little too cutesy to be a manly ride and generally, “cute” things tend to a girl thing. true story. however, that perception might change for some if the 500c in question is a collaborative effort between the Italian marque and premier GQ magazine, a Condé Nast Media Group publication. naturally, we don’t expect anything fancy under the hood; as with most collab we have seen, the “mods” introduced to the 2014 Fiat 500c GQ Edition are merely cosmetic, but functional no less. powering this man-up ride is the track-proven 1.4-liter MultiAir Turbo engine that pumps out 160 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque, and is mated to a 5-speed stick shift, enabling a naught to 60 mph time in “low 7-second.” of course, those figures, though important to all man, are not the highlight of this limited production cabriolet.

the differentiating elements start from the exterior with a more pronounced front fascia, larger air intakes for maximizing airflow, performance-style side sills, a set of 16-inch split five-spoke aluminum wheels finished in Hyper Nero (black) and Rossa (red) center cap, a cloth-top mounted functional spoiler, a rear diffuser integrated seamlessly with the dual exhaust system, Gloss Nero bezels around the headlamps, taillights and parking lights, and last but not the least, a “GQ 500” badging on the B-pillar tell it all that this 500c isn’t just any 500c. the GQ styling continues into the cabin with a leather wrapped thick-rim three-spoke steering wheel with contrasting Steam (white) inner leather ring, GQ Edition-specific satin chrome interior accents, Nero leather with Tungsten accent stitching on both the instrument cluster brow and shift knob, and specially designed leather-wrapped sport seats with Alcantara inserts, Steam leatherette center stripe, and again, contrasting Tungsten accent stitching. rounding up the interior styling is matte finished instrument bezel in the color matching the exterior color.
