Isuzu D-Max Electric Vehicle Lands in UK
While other electric pick-ups chase futuristic styling, the Isuzu D-Max EV focuses on getting the job done with over 1 tonne of payload, 3.5-tonne towing capacity, dual-motor AWD, and zero tailpipe emissions.

When it comes to the electrification of trucks, specifically pick-up trucks, Isuzu has other ideas. Instead of chasing the flashy, futuristic styling of the Tesla Cybertruck, Rivian R1T, and the like, it has chosen the path of practicality. We are talking about over 1 tonne of payload, 3.5 tonnes of towing capacity, and permanent four-wheel drive kind of practicality.

The result is the D-Max EV, Isuzu’s first fully electric pick-up truck. First revealed in 2024, the battery-powered workhorse has finally arrived on UK shores, bringing zero-emission motoring to one of the few vehicle segments where practicality still matters more than making a statement on social media.

While it may look very much like a regular D-Max, underneath sits a 66.9 kWh lithium-ion battery and a dual-motor setup producing a combined 149.3 kW (200 hp) and 347.6 Nm (256 lb-ft) of torque. The result is a 0-62 mph (100 km/h) sprint in 10.1 seconds and a top speed of 84 mph (135 km/h).

The D-Max EV offers a WLTP combined range of up to 163 miles (262 km), extending to 224 miles (360 km) in city driving. Charging is handled through an 11 kW AC onboard charger, which can replenish the battery from empty in around six hours. Meanwhile, a 50 kW DC fast charger can take the battery from 20 to 80 percent in about an hour. Oh, it has an 8-year warranty on the battery.

To cope with the additional weight of electrification, Isuzu has equipped the D-Max EV with a new De-Dion semi-independent rear suspension. Besides improving ride comfort and handling, the setup also helps reduce cabin noise and vibration by up to 10 percent under full acceleration.

Off-road capability remains an important part of the package. Rough Terrain Mode comes standard, along with 210 mm (8.3 inches) of ground clearance, a 600 mm (23.6 inches) wading depth, a 30.5-degree approach angle, and a 24.2-degree departure angle.

The D-Max EV will be available in eDL40 and eV-Cross trims, with buyers able to choose between Extended Cab and Double Cab configurations. Depending on trim, equipment includes heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, Bi-LED headlights, front and rear parking sensors, an 8- or 9-inch infotainment display, and premium audio systems with up to eight speakers.

Pricing in the UK starts at £59,995 (excluding VAT) for the Extended Cab eDL40. Moving up to the Double Cab eDL40 raises the asking price to £60,995 (excluding VAT), while the flagship Double Cab eV-Cross starts at £62,495 (excluding VAT).
