Nissan GT-R Cabrio by Newport Convertible Engineering

many exotic, supercars have dropped their tops, which is a sign that there is a market for topless beauties on wheels. we have seen Ferrari did it (notable recent example would be the California T) and so has Lamborghini. that said, it is a wonder why Nissan hasn’t toyed with the idea of chopping the roof of its flagship GT-R. we are pretty sure there are fans (with deep pockets, if we might add) out there wanting to see a convertible version of this modern legend. no? well, if you are one of those fans, your wait is over. California-based specialist in dropping top off non-drop-top vehicles, Newport Convertible Engineering has just announced that they will be offering custom cabrio conversion for the Nissan GT-R. yes. 2014 Fiat 500c GQ Edition

unless it is an Abarth, the 500 or 500c is a little too cutesy to be a manly ride and generally, “cute” things tend to a girl thing. true story. however, that perception might change for some if the 500c in question is a collaborative effort between the Italian marque and premier GQ magazine, a Condé Nast Media Group publication. naturally, we don’t expect anything fancy under the hood; as with most collab we have seen, the “mods” introduced to the 2014 Fiat 500c GQ Edition are merely cosmetic, but functional no less. powering this man-up ride is the track-proven 1.4-liter MultiAir Turbo engine that pumps out 160 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque, and is mated to a 5-speed stick shift, enabling a naught to 60 mph time in “low 7-second.” of course, those figures, though important to all man, are not the highlight of this limited production cabriolet. Toyota FT-86 Open Concept

whether a droptop version of the Top Gear Car of the Year 2012 will be a reality, very much depends on the reception when the Toyota FT-86 Open Concept makes its appearance at the next week’s Geneva Auto Show. maintaining its 2+2 seating configuration, the FT86 Open shares the exact external dimensions of the much celebrated GT86 coupe, but now earned a multi-layered fabric roof (possibly electrically-operated) with a glass rear screen for those who dig the idea of catching the wind in their hair. the roof is said to fold down behind the fixed rear seats “with minimal impact on the luggage space.” Continue reading Toyota FT-86 Open Concept

Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet

Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe
the Mercedes-Benz E-Class has come a long way and the most recent E-Class coupe and cabriolet iteration proves a little more less tame, or should we say more aggressive in every way. starting off with six versions of petrol units which output ranging from 184 hp (135 kW) to 408 hp (300 kW) and three diesel engines with 170 hp (125 kW) to 265 hp (195 kW) on the tap. as for the looks, the pugnacious demeanor of its revised front end is unmistakeable with its steeply sloped front bonnet, large air intakes located on the new V-shape front bumper and slanted headlamps that hold new single-lens LED within Continue reading Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet
