what do automakers do when they have nothing new to offer? easy. just go on the special (or limited) edition or collaboration route to keep their presence felt. i know what you are thinking: not another MINI special edition, is it? nope. certainly not. next to MINI, smart fortwo is perhaps one model that has the most special edition and/or collaboration cars and the latest to join this special edition altar is the smart fortwo edition iceshine. of course, like most smart’s past specials, the edition iceshine is nothing more than cosmetic makeover but hey, that is good enough for any fans of this ultra cute vehicle. this latest rendition features a tridion safety cell in white matched with body panels in a choice of either white or azure blue. the latter is a color specially created for this edition. other features include new 15-inch 3 double-spoke alloy wheels in white wrapped in wide 175/55 R 15 (front) and 195/50 R 15 (rear) tires, white door mirror caps, LED daytime driving lights, and a special logo on the mirror’s triangle that proudly indicates this is the iceshine edition. the visual treatment carries on into the interior with leather-effect (read: faux leather) seats contrasted with white fabric backrests and white stitching, a 3-spoke paddle shift equipped sports steering wheel clad in leather with white stitching, and dashes of white on its dashboard instruments and components. the edition iceshine standard equipment includes RDS radio with USB and AUX ports, a pair of speakers, an additional storage drawer, exclusive floor mats, softouch automatic gear program, electric windows, air conditioning with automatic climate control, and a panoramic roof with sun blind. the smart fortwo edition iceshine will be offered for both the coupe and cabriolet models with a choice of a 71 horsepower (52 kW) 1.0-liter three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol unit and the 84 horsepower (62 kW) 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbocharged unit. expect it to hit the dealers this October (in Germany, we presume) with a price tag starting from €14,490 (around US$18,252). only 1,800 units of the edition iceshine will be made available. head past the jump for a smart fortwo edition iceshine gallery.
