According to Toyota, the Supra namesake will be 45 years old in 2024. Technically, it should be 38 in 2024 since the 1979 birth year was Celica Supra which only became separate models in 1986. Based on Toyota’s logic, that would also make 2024 the 24th anniversary of Celica. Is it not? But it (Celica) is not worthy of a celebration since there has been no new Celica model in more than a decade even though the ST185 was considered the most successful rally car from Toyota.
Anywho, Toyota has announced that it will be marking the 45th birthday of the Supra in 2024 with a 2024 Toyota GR Supra 45th Anniversary Edition which is a homage to the custom MkIV Supra. And as an ode to the 1990’s models, it will be available in deep orange Mikan Blast (“mikan” is orange in Japanese, btw) and ice-cold Absolute Zero.
Built on the 3.0 Premium Grade, the 2024 Toyota GR Supra 45th Anniversary Edition features an aggressive style with oversized, manually adjustable rear wing, matte black finished wheels, black GR brake calipers, black Supra side graphic, and under the hood, the engine is flanked by exclusive 45th Anniversary Edition Mikan Blast strut tower braces that bear the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing logo.
The special edition BMW Z4. No. I mean, J29 Supra will be offered in a choice of a paddle-shifted 8-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmission. Unfortunately, though, nothing has changed under the hood. It is still powered by the same B58 3.0L inline six-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 382 horses and 368 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque.
The 2024 Toyota GR Supra 45th Anniversary Edition will arrive at Toyota dealerships in the fall of 2023 as a 2024 model. It will be limited to 900 units for the U.S. market. Pricing for the special model and the details for the complete 2024 GR Supra lineup will be disclosed later.
