when it comes to automobile, getting the best of both worlds would mean having performance and the practicality of space. while many exotic cars out there offers sub-5 second performance, practicality such as the ability to ferry more than two persons, or carry a boot load of groceries or even some IKEA furniture, is the least in their priority, but not with the 2015 Jaguar XFR-S Sportbrake. the XFR-S Sportbrake is the first high-performance R-S branded sports estate car (aka station wagon) coming from Jaguar’s stable that offers to satisfy both your need for speed and practical space for your trips to the supermarkets or dropping your kids at school.
pure performance is offered by a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 petrol unit, pushing out 542 hp and massive 502 lb-ft (680 Nm) of torque and put to good use through an eight-speed gearbox with ‘Quickshift’, allowing it to rocket from 0-62 mph in 4.8 seconds and on the way to an electronically limited top speed of 186 mph (300 km/h). aerodynamics have also been given a boost to ensure the vehicle sticks to the ground like it should and these include a new, deeply sculpted front bumper, a front splitter, extended side sills and aeroblade moldings, a deep carbon fiber diffuser, a roof-mounted spoiler and more. the XFR-S Sportbrake rolls on 20-inch ‘Varuna’ forged alloy wheels, wrapped in bespoke Pirelli tires, while high performance braking system comprising of large ventilated brake discs give the stopping power it needs.
with the extended roofline of the wagon-style body, the XFR-S affords an additional 48mm of headroom for the rear-seat passengers and a 60:40 split fold system offers a super generous 1,675 liters of rear cargo space when rear seats are folded flat. additionally, it has a carbon leather interior with contrasting highlight micro-piping and stitching. each XFR-S Sportbrake comes standard with a 380W, 12-speaker Meridian sound system. no word on the availability and pricing at this point though. the 2015 Jaguar XFR-S Sportbrake, along with the rest of the 2015 XF range, will be officially unveiled at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show.
