Honda Civic Type R BTCC Race Car

Remember I ranted how bad looking the 10th generation Honda Civic was when it was unveiled? To our dismay, the Type R, with the aeros and all, isn’t any better. It was a tad better at best. Well, it looks like not all hopes are lost. As it turns out, it CAN be saved and the Halfords Yuasa Racing Honda Civic Type R-based BTCC race car is the living proof. If Honda designers need a good reference what race-bred looks like, this is it. It has everything a race-bred car have and should have, including fat wheel arches, slow slung ride hide, front splitter and the works.

I don’t know why, but the Halfords Yuasa Racing’s example is very soothing to the eyes. Perhaps, the wide body – lent to it by the flared fenders, and wider stance helps improved the look drastically. I am not going to lie. Every time I met a Civic Type R on the road, I cringed. The signature Type R white doesn’t help at all. Not even by a wee bit, really. I thought my opinion may be swayed by the pre-livery matte black look, but Halfords Yuasa Racing have since unveiled the official livery (last month) and guess what? It was still a looker. It is the look the street-going Honda Civic Type R should have. No other way. OK. May be the rear is not all that fantastic.
