At the 2024 Center for Automotive Research Seminar, Altair awarded BMW Group the Enlighten Award for Sustainable Process, recognizing their BMW M Visionary Materials Seat.
This innovative seat design focuses on sustainability and the entire product lifecycle, emphasizing lightweight construction, plant-based materials, and high recyclability. The BMW M Visionary Materials Seat features sustainable design through the use of natural fibers, leather alternatives, and algae-based polymers.
This innovative approach results in a 90% lower CO2e footprint compared to current BMW M carbon bucket seats. Additionally, the seat boasts a high recycling rate due to reduced module complexity and the use of type-grouped materials.
The manufacturing process is equally advanced, employing additive techniques that eliminate support structures and chemical treatments, thereby conserving energy and resources.
