iRobot just announced its latest lineup of Roombas, but one model stands out: the Roomba 205 DustCompactor Vac Robot. Unlike regular robot vacuums that fill up their dustbins in no time, this clever bot compacts dirt and debris inside itself, stretching out the time before you need to empty it. That means up to 60 days of cleaning without touching the bin. Pair it with the AutoEmpty dock, and you get up to 75 days of hands-free cleaning.

But it’s not just about stuffing more dust into a bin. The Roomba 205 DustCompactor Vac Robot is a four-stage cleaning beast. It boasts 70X stronger suction (compared to Roomba 600 series robots), a multi-surface bristle brush, an edge-sweeping brush, and a microfiber mop pad for that extra shine. It even lets you choose between vacuum-only, mop-only, or a combo mode. Plus, its SmartScrub feature can double the scrubbing power when needed.
Navigation is smarter than ever with ClearView LiDAR, ensuring precise mapping, obstacle avoidance, and neat, efficient cleaning paths—even in the dark. Through the Roomba Home app, users can schedule specific room cleanings, adjust suction power, and create keep-out zones. Voice control? Check. The Roomba 205 works with Alexa, Siri, and Google Assistant.
For those who appreciate aesthetics, the Roomba 205 doesn’t just clean well—it looks good doing it, with a sleek design that blends into modern homes. If you choose the model without the AutoEmpty dock, then you’d be back to the good’ol days of clean, simple docking. I don’t know about you but I reminisce about those days a lot.
The iRobot Roomba 205 DustCompactor Vac Robot is priced at US$799 and will be available starting March 18 across North America and Europe. No words on availability outside of those regions.
