Fans of 70s and 80s sci-fi anime will fondly remember Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato. If you’re one such fan, Japanese toy maker MegaHouse has just presented a new opportunity to own the iconic space battleship again. Folks, meet the Cosmo Fleet Special: Space Battleship Yamato 2202: Warriors of Love – Space Battleship Yamato 2202 Re. (with Asteroid Ring).
This is a reissue of the toy from several years ago, now featuring an Asteroid Ring—as per the product description. As the name suggests, it is based on Space Battleship Yamato’s appearance in Space Battleship Yamato 2202: Warriors of Love (宇宙戦艦ヤマト2202 愛の戦士たち, Uchū Senkan Yamato 2202 Ai no Senshi-tachi), the sequel to Space Battleship Yamato 2199 and a remake of the original Space Battleship Yamato II series.
The reissue now appears to feature weathering effects, as it should, along with a display stand that props up the battleship and the newly added Asteroid Ring. However, before you get too excited, you should know that this collectible isn’t exactly huge. In fact, it’s quite compact at around 160 mm (6.3 inches) long.
Unfortunately, there isn’t much official information available, despite the product having a listing—because MegaHouse seems to have mistakenly posted details about RAHDX Series G.A.NEO Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ: Elpeo Ple instead. I wonder if they’re aware of that mix-up.
Anyhoo, you can likely already pre-order it from your favorite toy retailers. In Japan, it carries a price tag of 9,350 yen (tax included), or roughly 63 USD, with shipping expected to begin in July 2025.
