Dreame has bold ambitions. So bold you may think it is a movie script. It aims to surpass Apple, Tesla, and NVIDIA in 20 years by having all aspects of your life covered, including the good’ol appliances, out-of-this-world hypercars, and smartphones. The brand’s smartphone is called AURORA.
The Dreame Technology AURORA smartphone lineup is divided into the ultra-luxury series called LUX and the imaging flagship series called NEX. Not going to lie. The information is fragmented at best—unless you attended the keynote the company held at the Palace of Fine Arts, in San Francisco, on April 27. Anyhoo, here is what we know:
AURORA NEX Series
Core specifications:
Powered by the fifth-generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, paired with a 7,000 mAh battery and a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint unlock system with a 40 ms unlock speed.
Camera system:
Features a magnetic attachable triple-camera module consisting of a 1-inch ultra-large sensor main camera, a 120° ultra-wide camera, and a native 115 mm telephoto camera. It supports 115 mm optical zoom, and the camera module can operate independently after being detached from the phone.
That’s right. The phone and the camera are individual gadgets. The former serves as the display for framing shots, reviewing photos/footage, and taking the shots. It is kind of like TECNO’s proposed Modular Magnetic Interconnection Technology.
Other features:
Runs the self-developed AURORA AIOS 1.0 operating system, offering AI imaging optimization, emotion sensing, and more. It also supports Wi-Fi 7 and USB 3.2.
AURORA LUX Series
Materials and craftsmanship:
The body uses luxurious materials such as 18K gold, platinum, Himalayan white albino crocodile leather, and VVS-grade diamonds, combined with jewelry and luxury watchmaking craftsmanship.
Design details:
The Emperor Crown series incorporates 18K gold, emeralds, and diamonds. The Star Glory · Obsidian Scale series uses albino crocodile leather paired with 36 VVS-grade diamonds. The Luxury Secret Realm series integrates tourbillon structural components.
Services:
Includes customized unboxing services, VIP consultants, and luxury material recycling and refurbishment services. The LUX series is kind of Dreame’s answer to Vertu.
Pricing and availability
Launch is expected in the second half of 2026, though the exact China release date is to be announced. As for the price, the NEX Series will start at US$999, while the LUX Series will command somewhere between 70,000 yuan and 100,000 yuan [CH] (about US$10,293-US$14,704).
