In the past, the mention of Bose QuietComfort may have prompted you to ask, “Which number?” That changed in 2023 when Bose restarted the generation counter by dropping the numerical designation. Now, this “restarted generation” of QuietComfort has welcomed its second-generation model, simply called the Bose QuietComfort Headphones (2nd Gen).

The new second-generation QuietComfort Headphones have been updated with stronger ANC performance, a cleaner industrial design with improved wearing comfort, and features previously reserved for the QuietComfort Ultra series.
The star feature of this pair of headphones is the addition of Bose TrueSpatial Technology, which brings three Immersive Audio modes: Still keeps the virtual soundstage fixed as the listener moves their head; Motion allows it to follow the listener; and Cinema widens the presentation while keeping dialogue centered. The headphones also support lossless USB-C audio at up to 24-bit/48 kHz.
In the noise-cancellation department, the renamed QuietControl noise cancellation now uses adaptive feedforward controls and six microphones to compensate more effectively for imperfect earcup seals caused by glasses, hair, or hats. In addition, ActiveSense in Aware Mode has been refined to soften sudden loud sounds more naturally. The ANC levels can be adjusted or disabled through the Bose app.
Other highlights include Bluetooth 5.4 with multipoint connectivity, Google Fast Pair, two-way USB-C audio for listening and calls, physical playback and mode controls, an adjustable three-band EQ, and up to 24 hours of battery life, or 18 hours with Immersive Audio.
Speaking of the battery, it supports quick charging, with a 15-minute charge providing 2.5 hours of playback. Also on charging, this pair of cans supports charging while the headphones are being worn. The package also includes a USB-C-to-3.5 mm cable.
The new Bose QuietComfort Headphones (2nd Gen) come in Black, White Smoke, Eucalyptus Green, Dewdrop Mint, and Rosewood Mauve, with the latter three being limited editions. Preorders open on August 8, 2026, for US$359, with shipping beginning August 13.
