Avid mobile gamers, meet the new ASUS ROG Phone 5. And no, it is not a typo and no, we did not skipped the time. ASUS has, for reasons which we can only speculate, decided to give ‘4’ a pass and jump from ASUS ROG Phone 3 straight to ASUS ROG Phone 5.
Anyhoo, the new ASUS ROG Phone 5 is powered by the fastest chipset from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 888 5G Mobile Platform, and features an all-new performance manager app for serious mobile gamers and upgraded GameCool 5 cooling system.
Fronting the device is a 144 Hz/1 ms Samsung AMOLED HDR10+ certified display with a mind-bending 300 Hz touch sampling rate. The screen also promised ultra-low latency (24.3 ms) and Delta-E <1 color accuracy, and it is protected by the toughest Corning Gorilla Glass yet, Victus.
The device is equipped with a monster 6,000 mAh battery, bolstered by new software optimizations to “maximize endurance and lifespan’ and fastest-ever rapid charging with 65W HyperCharge. And as before, it has not one, but two USB-C ports, so you can charge while playing without the cable getting in the way.
Moreover, the Phone 5 promised “massively upgraded” AirTrigger 5 as well as GameFX audio system tuned by Dirac. And then, there is the hard to ignore, fancy unique rear matrix display found on the Pro and Ultimate that will allow for customizable animations for system alerts and status.
And also yes, for the first time, ASUS ROG Phone is offered in more than one model, or three, to be precise. There is the ROG Phone 5, the ROG Phone 5 Pro and the ROG Phone 5 Ultimate.
The new ASUS ROG Phone 5 Gaming Smartphone is expected to arrive in April 2021 with a starting price of £799 (or about US$1,113).
