We have seen countless Back to the Future collectibles, but like Marty McFly’s time-worn kicks from Converse Japan, the Back to the Future Clock Tower Wristwatch requires a die-hard fan to recognize its connection to the franchise.
And yes, the clock face of the iconic Hill Valley Clock Tower has now become something you can wear on your wrist. Like, how cool is that? Super cool, probably, but mainly to fans of all things BTTF. Everyone else may simply think you have an unusually civic-minded appreciation for municipal architecture.
And yes, it is a fully functional watch. It is not permanently stuck at 10:04 PM like the clock tower after it was struck by lightning, which provided the jolt of electricity needed to power the DeLorean’s flux capacitor and activate time travel.
Thankfully, this wearable collectible will not send 1.21 gigawatts through your wrist. That would most definitely eject your soul and possibly induce visions of your great-great-grandparents. The watch also does not have a miniature Doc Brown hanging from the minute hand. Opportunity missed.
Anyhoo, back to the wristwatch. Its design is very minimalist, just like the clock tower that inspired it. Under the hood, the clockwork comes courtesy of an unnamed Japanese quartz movement with an accuracy of ±20 seconds per month and around two years of battery life.
The timepiece has a 36.4 mm stainless steel case measuring 8.4 mm thick, paired with an 18 mm-wide stainless steel mesh strap. It offers 5 ATM water resistance, meaning it can handle everyday abuse involving splashes, rain, and handwashing. But I doubt anyone will wear it instead of displaying it in their BTTF shrine, let alone take it swimming (which 5 ATM supposedly can handle).
Reservations for the Back to the Future Clock Tower Wristwatch started on August 4 and will end on September 7, 2026. Limited to 1,985 pieces—see what U-Treasure did there?—the watch commands 29,700 yen [JP], or roughly US$187.
