Back to the Future is one of those franchises that doesn’t even need to spell its name across a product for fans to know what’s up. Case in point: the self-lacing shoe, and now this: Converse. The shoes Marty McFly wore in Back to the Future were already iconic, so a collab between Converse Japan and the time-traveling classic is a no-brainer.

But since 2025 marks the movie’s 40th anniversary, simply reissuing a clean pair of ’80s All Stars wouldn’t cut it. They had to look like they’d survived a few jumps through the space-time continuum—and maybe a chase or two. That’s where the Converse x Back to the Future collection comes in.
Launching on October 26, 2025—the very date Marty first hit 88 miles per hour—the lineup includes three distinct models inspired by the film’s most memorable moments and gear: the All Star Aged MT HI, the All Star Aged HB HI, and the All Star TM HI. Each pair brings a little piece of Hill Valley history to your feet.

This one’s straight out of 1985—or at least it looks that way. The All Star Aged MT HI recreates Marty McFly’s worn-in sneakers with special wash and bleach treatments for that authentic “ran from Libyan terrorists” look. The midsole tape and laces have a deliberate dirty finish, while the lining features the film’s logo and a 40th-anniversary mark. Underneath, the outsole hides a tiny illustration of Marty and Doc standing together—because even your soles deserve an Easter egg. Rounding up the Back to the Future theme is the date Marty time-traveled, printed right on the midsole. Limited to just 1,985 pairs, naturally.

Inspired by the hoverboard from Back to the Future Part II, this pink pair screams retro-futurism. It combines the playful aesthetic of Marty’s hoverboard with Converse’s 1989 “On Fire” collection. There’s a multicolor ankle patch, mismatched laces, and a printed insole featuring the hoverboard design. The tongue carries an embroidered Back to the Future logo, while the inner lining sports the anniversary branding. It’s bright, loud, and looks ready to zip over Hill Valley pavement—minus the hover function.

The TM stands for Time Machine, and it wears that inspiration proudly. Decked out in silver and black leather, this pair channels the DeLorean’s stainless-steel finish. The translucent gum outsole hints at the car’s glowing taillights, while the lining displays a time circuit print alongside the 40th-anniversary logo. It’s equal parts sci-fi and streetwear—like wearing a flux capacitor on your feet, minus the sparks.
Each pair comes packaged in a special dual-branded box and has been available in Japan since October 26, 2025. Prices start at 17,600 yen for the Aged models and 20,900 yen for the TM HI (about US$117 and US$139, respectively).
Unfortunately, it looks like the Converse x Back to the Future Collection is a Japan-exclusive for now.
