NECA 2019 Burning Godzilla Figure

There were a lot to take in at the San Diego Comic-Con last week. Unless you are a major fan of the King of the Monsters, AKA Godzilla, you might have missed this little big guy snuck inside a display case over at NECA. You are not seeing things. That was in fact the “Burning Godzilla” in the flesh. Well, “flesh” as in a vinyl figure. However, do not confuse it with the NECA Classic 1995 Burning Godzilla Figure from 2015 or the re-issue edition from last year that was based on the 95’ movie Godzilla vs. Destoroyah.

This Burning Godzilla was based on the kaiju’s recent silver screen appearance in Godzilla: King of the Monster that hit the theaters in May. The images was taken and posted on Twitter by apparent kaiju nut, Twitter user TakodaKaijuStuff (@KaijuStuff), and subsequently picked up by Godzilla: King of the Monster’s fans account on Twitter (@GodzillaMovies). It looks awesome, but what’s the deal with this fiery Godzilla?

NECA 2019 Burning Godzilla Figure

Well, about that… you may not want to know if you haven’t watch the movie yet. In other words, spoiler ahead! So considered yourself warned. The king of kaiju got all hot, like very literally, thanks to Mothra who sacrificing herself to transfer her energy to him, thus giving Godzilla a boost to defeat the mighty three-headed King Ghidorah. Basically the energy transfer, or energy overload as I like to call it, turned Gojira into the Burning Godzilla. As you can see, it is hotter than the partial burning 1995 example and it is absolutely sick. In a good way, of course.

We reached out to NECA to find out more. Unfortunately, NECA was unable to divulge more information. The 2019 Burning Godzilla Figure was an in-booth tease for SDCC and as such, there was no additional information regarding the figure, not were there official photography of it at this point in time. But you can be sure it is coming. The only questions are when it is arriving and at what price.
