Wildlife cameras used to be all about watching raccoons steal your cat food or deer looking awkward under infrared. We’ve talked about clever cams before—remember the Bird Buddy that sent feathered mugshots straight to your phone? Well, now there’s something for the filmmaker who wants to document more than pigeons on the balcony. Meet the Behold Cam-1, a Kickstarter project that’s less trail cam and more pocket-sized cinema rig.

Designed by Pete and team, the Behold Cam-1 takes the “shrink it down but keep it pro” approach. Think retro-modern styling inspired by classic film cameras, only this one fits in your pocket at a fraction of the bulk. It packs a large image sensor for low-light wizardry, interchangeable lenses, and manual controls for focus, exposure, and frame rate. There’s also a touchscreen interface that looks intuitive enough for both vloggers and visual storytellers.
Specs-wise, you’re looking at 4K recording, shallow depth of field, and a compact body that weighs less than your average telephoto lens. The Kickstarter offers bundles with lens adapters, mounts, and firmware stretch goals for the faithful backers.
As always with crowdfunding, remember this isn’t Amazon Prime. Delivery is promised for mid-to-late 2026, but delays—or worse—are part of the game. The Behold Cam-1 starts at US$227.
