When VR headsets first hit the market, they were as futuristic as flying cars—only much chunkier. It made you wonder if the future was supposed to be this heavy. Well, not necessarily. Enter the Bigscreen VR headset. Two years ago, it crashed the VR party looking more like superslim FPV goggles—or an oversized pair of swimming goggles—than the usual face bricks. Fast forward to 2025, Bigscreen, Inc. is back with the Bigscreen Beyond 2.

The Bigscreen Beyond 2 isn’t just a sequel; it’s a glow-up. It rocks a breakthrough pancake optic design, offering a massive 116-degree diagonal field of view, which beats the Meta Quest 3 and Valve Index. It keeps the gorgeous dual 1-inch micro-OLED displays from the original, serving up 2560 x 2560 pixels per eye with richer colors, higher contrast, and a refresh rate of 90Hz or 75Hz. Glare has been dialed way down, and the sweet spot is much bigger, too.
Beyond 2 also features an adjustable IPD, so you don’t have to play the guessing game with your eyeballs anymore. Plus, it ditches the old iPhone scanning requirement by introducing a new Halo Mount, inspired by tactical night vision gear. The Halo Mount is a universal-fit solution, allowing you to tweak tilt and eye relief for that perfect setup.
Other highlights include SteamVR tracking for full 6DOF movement, optional eyetracking with the Beyond 2e model, a superlight 107-gram (3.77 oz) build, and a choice of Carbon Black, Crystal Clear, or an eye-searing Nuclear Orange.
Bigscreen Beyond 2 starts at US$1,019, while the Beyond 2e with eyetracking goes for US$1,219. Shipping kicks this month, April 2025. However, at the time of posting, if you order now, expect shipping to start sometime in July 2025.
