Aquarium AirPods Max Attachments by Rakin Ahmed

Some people love their pet fish so much they’ll carry them around in a high-tech portable aquarium (kind of!) or cart them through the park on a fish tank trolley. But multidisciplinary artist Rakin Ahmed (@rakitecht) took it a step further: he chose to wear his on his ears. You heard that right. It’s a wearable aquarium.

Ahmed created the Aquarium AirPods Max Attachments, which he can fill with healthy water and let his pet goldfish swim around in while he goes about his daily routine—like hitting the gym. Will little Goldie get motion sickness? I don’t know. Is it cool? Absolutely—at least until some fish rights group starts yelling “animal cruelty.”

As the name suggests, the Aquarium AirPods Max Attachments clip onto the AirPods Max headphones. They’re designed to be filled with water and allow a small fish to chill out inside. You can even have one fish per ear. The project was made possible with help from Crayon Cartel, according to the artist.

Ahmed also added a disclaimer: no goldfish were harmed in the making of this (video). The fish are alive and well, now back in their cozy, man-made habitat — a regular fish bowl.

This isn’t Ahmed’s first dive into mobile aquariums either. Previously, he whipped up a 3D-printed aquarium iPhone case.

Before you get too excited, though, you should know this: it’s not for sale. At least, not yet. I checked his website (which, at the time of this post, only has two products for sale, by the way) and didn’t find it listed.
