Yes, more stuff is coming from BMW Motorrad. In fact, we’re a tad late on this one. Revealed last month, the BMW Concept F 450 GS is here to shake up the mid-range adventure scene. Designed for A2 license holders, this concept sits snugly between the pint-sized G 310 GS and the burly F 800/900 GS, making it a versatile ride for both rookies and seasoned riders looking for a lightweight companion.

GS DNA in a Bite-Sized Package
The Concept F 450 GS carries the unmistakable design language of the GS family: rugged, dynamic, and distinctly BMW. Decked out in Racing Blue metallic with pops of white and red, it echoes the aesthetic of its older, bigger sibling, the R 1300 GS Trophy. But this isn’t just about good looks—it’s compact, nimble, and ready for both on- and off-road adventures.
A Twin-Cylinder Debut
Under the hood lies a newly developed 450cc twin-cylinder inline engine that’s both lightweight and eager to rev. With its unique ignition offset, this powerplant churns out 48 hp (perfect for A2 compliance) and delivers robust torque even at lower revs. Thanks to clever engineering and lightweight materials like magnesium, it achieves a stellar power-to-weight ratio while keeping things compact.
Built to Ride Anywhere
The Concept F 450 GS is equipped with a fully adjustable 43 mm upside-down fork and a load-dependent damping shock absorber, giving it the chops to handle anything from muddy trails to curvy mountain roads. The 19-inch front and 17-inch rear cross-spoke wheels scream off-road readiness, though lightweight cast-aluminum wheels will be an option down the line.
Weighing in at a svelte 175 kg (386 lbs), this concept is nearly at the minimum weight requirement for its class, ensuring agility and confidence whether you’re carving through backroads or tackling rugged terrain.

Smarts and Safety to Match
BMW didn’t skimp on tech, either. The Concept F 450 GS features lean-angle-sensitive ABS Pro, configurable riding modes, and a performance brake system for added safety and control. A 6.5-inch TFT display with BMW Connectivity rounds out the package, letting riders link up their smartphones and accessories for a more integrated experience.
Looking Ahead
While the Concept F 450 GS is still just a vision, BMW Motorrad has hinted at a production model debuting in 2025. Expect a seat height tweak for accessibility and those optional aluminum wheels, but otherwise, this bike is set to stay true to its concept roots.
BMW has once again proven it knows how to deliver an adventure bike with all the bells and whistles, wrapped up in a lightweight, accessible package. If this concept is any indication, the F 450 GS will be a force to be reckoned with in the mid-range class.
